The brief

A full platform — profiles and networking, job postings, fundraising campaigns and escrow-backed contracts — built to connect Black-owned businesses with the investors, mentors and professionals who want to work with them.

The challenge

The founders needed a marketplace with four distinct user types and real money moving between them, on a start-up budget and timeline, with a user experience simple enough that a first-time founder and a seasoned investor both feel at home.

What we built

  • Multi-role networking — Business, investor, mentor and professional profiles with discovery, messaging and connection requests.
  • Job board — Postings, applications and applicant management for member businesses.
  • Fundraising campaigns — Campaign pages with goals, updates and contributor management.
  • Escrow contracts — Milestone-based agreements between members with funds held and released on completion, plus dispute handling.
  • Next.js front end on a .NET API — Server-rendered, SEO-friendly public pages with a typed .NET backend and SQL database.

How we worked

Feature flags for each module so the platform could launch with networking and jobs while fundraising and escrow finished behind the scenes.

Outcome

A live, comprehensive platform the co-founders describe as delivering every promised module while keeping the experience intuitive.

Frequently asked questions
  • Why .NET for the API with a Next.js front end?+

The client's existing team and hosting were .NET; Next.js gave the public pages the SEO and speed a marketplace needs. The typed boundary between them kept both sides honest.
